An irrigation system can be bought as necessary in all gardening centers or specialized gardening stores. Before deciding on your irrigation method, you should decide where the greenhouse should stand – is there an available electric connection nearby? Is there a readily available water connection? Do you already have a computerized irrigation system in your garden or porch? You can then choose the irrigation method accordingly. Every plant has various irrigation needs. You must ensure that irrigation is done properly according to the type of plant, its age, and stage of development, as well as the current season. Lack of water will cause the plant to whither, while excessive irrigation will cause diseases, root rotting, algae, and bacteria growth. One rule of thumb is to let the potting mix dry first and fully water only then, to the point where about a third of the water quantity flows out and drains outside the plant pot or grow bag. The simplest and cheapest method is to water manually several times a week according to the plants' needs, preferably using a watering can, but it can also be done using a simple cup or mug. This method requires that the grower ensures someone waters his plants if he is absent from home for any length of time. If there are many plants to water, you must consider the great weight of the water the grower will have to carry to water all the plants.
This is an autonomous irrigation system without a connection to running water. It is constructed of aspecially designed water container and a simple irrigation computer (works on batteries) that connects to it with anarrow tube. You can adjust the duration of the irrigation and the space between each watering, to give your plants the required quantity of water.
A Computerized Irrigation System connects to a hose and an irrigation tap and is operated constantly using a chosen program. This is the most expensive but also the best option, which prevents problems of forgetfulness or deficient watering. It can be obtained in a wide variety of gardening stores and internet websites.
Watering using an autonomous suction system without a connection to running water and no electric connection. This system is built from an ordinary water container (such as a drinking bottle) which connects to drips via narrow tubes. The drip has a ceramic footthat sucks up the water from the container when the soil dries up. This ensures that the soil around the plant is always moist.
This is another example of watering through an autonomous system without connection to running water or electricity. It is made of a specially designed water container connected to drops via narrow tubes. The watering is done with gravitation and can be regulated with a special tap.
